Malaysia's Most Valuable Brands (MMVB)

Maybank Group was ranked the country’s most valuable brand, followed by Public Bank, Maxis, Genting and Celcom.
Global brand consultancy Interbrand was commissioned by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) to evaluate the top 30 brands in the country based on financial analysis, role of brand and brand strength, culminating with the MMVB.

The valuation is based on a proven methodology by Interbrand which pioneered the brand valuation practice and is now recognised worldwide for its annual global brand valuations with corporate publication Business Week.

Malaysia now joins a select few countries in Asia that have commissioned such a study by Interbrand. Taiwan, China and Singapore are the other markets that have recently embarked on similar studies.

No. Brand - Ranking (RM)

1. Maybank - RM9.638 billion
2. Public Bank - RM6.861 billion
3. Maxis - RM5.303 billion
4. Genting - RM4.586 billion
5. Celcom - RM4.070 billion
6. CIMB - RM3.42 billion
7. Astro - RM3.3 billion
8. Hong Leong - RM3.095 billion
9. Perodua - RM2.442 billion
10. DiGi - RM2.094 billion
11. Giant - RM2.064 billion
12. MAS - RM1.719 billion
13. Sime Darby - RM1.524 billion
14. TV3 - RM1.099 billion
15. Petronas - RM918 million

17. RHB Bank - RM653 million
18. Ambank - RM650 million
19. Air Asia - RM332 million
20. The Star - RM318 million

23. Proton - RM238 million
24. MAA Insurance - RM231 million

27. Parkson - RM124 million
28. Sunway - RM90 million
29. Mamee - RM87 million
30. Bonia - RM74 million

The inaugural ranking would assist in emphasising the role of brand contribution in business performance. The rankings provide top line measures of economic performance, stating what the brand is worth overall and among competition.

The total value of those 30 brands in the MMVB07 list is around RM56.5 bilion, which is the estimation of fiscal year yields from a research study implemented for 5 years.

MMVB’07 is different from other brand researcher where it only takes the brand value into account and not the total asset owned by a company. So this justifies why Petronas is not at the top place as everyone might presumes.

To be eligible to be evaluated as the most valuable brand in Malaysia, the company must be established and developed in Malaysia or owned by a public listed company which based in the country for at least 10 years.

Dizzy lazy bloody sleepy

Yo yo whassup. Somebody please...help me. I can't sleep.

The digital clock on my computer screen shows that it's already 2:05 AM. But i am still here blinking my stoney eyes and sticking my arse in front of this machine.

My whole body apparently gives a signal that i am damn too tired to stay up until this late. Hey tomorrow is working day...yawn. I want to sleep but it seems that i don't fall asleep at all. Perhaps this is a kick i got from a cup of coffee i drank during lunch break today. Darn...didn't me realize me is so week against coffee?

My eyelids are too heavy to stay open but as i lay down, my mind start to working. It doesn't want to stop thinking. Yawn.....i'm sleepy but i can't sleep. I've worked damn hard lately, channeling most of my energy towards work. My job's responsibility is piling up. Busy...oooh yeah i'm a busy man now. Yawnnnn....ooh yes. At last, now i think i do really feel sleepy. My eyes...oooh my eyes....can't stand anymore. Now i found another merit of blogging that is as an effective medicine to make you fall asleep. Yeah thank god. It such a great gift to able to sleep. Yawnnn...my eyes...ooh. It's now 2:29 AM. Got to go dude...tomorrow got to work. Yeah good heaven. Eventually i am out.....yawnnnn. Good night and have a sweet dream....

The 90/10 Principle

What is this principle? Ten per cent of life is made up of what happens to you, while 90% is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.

We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic.

We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? By your reaction.
You cannot a red light but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react. Let's use an example.

You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks a cup of coffee onto the business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse.

You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticise her placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready to school. She misses the bas.

Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles and hour in a 30mph speed limit.

After 15 minute delay and throwing US$60 (about RM220) because of a traffic fine, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home.

When you arrive home, you find a small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.

Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning.
Why did you have a bad day?
A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policemen cause it?
D) Did you cause it?
The answer is "D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those five seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "It's okay, honey, you just need to be more careful next time." Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive five minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference?
Two difference scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.
Why? Because of how you reacted. You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll of like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative comments affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out, and so on.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose the temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off. Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them

Who cares if you arrive 10 seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin you drive? Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.

You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out frustration ion the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.

Now you know the 90/10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90/10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.

It can change your life!!
